Year in Review....So Sincere

I first want to say I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday session. Tonight is New Years Eve and I hope everyone has an amazing time and is safe and happy as well. With 2009 literally knocking at my front door in a matter of hours, it makes me reflect on 2008 that will soon be a memory.

This year for me personally and professional, was great, hard, stressful and wonderful. I honestly can say I wouldnt change a moment of it to be at the very moment I am at right now. There are so many people that have come into my life, some have left but that I believe was the way it was meant to be. I saw a lot and I mean A LOT of people helping eachother and on the flip saw a lot of people stabbing eachother in the back. I hope for 2009 that more people can realize that this is a BUSINESS not a highschool. I hope that more people continue to give back and help where they can.

I wanted to share some of my personal and professioanl highlights from 2008:a lot of big "firsts" for me this year:

-Attending the Thresold Underground Music Awards in NYC-
Thank you to Kai Denninger Founder of Yoraps.com for allowing to represent Yoraps at the awards (Winner of the Website of the year!) Big shout to The Wattys Music Camp (Slick Watts was nominated for Midwest Artist of the year), Kalam aka Killah Beats, MR 44 who also attended the UMA's. It was great to be out in my hometown and be with some of my OH family!Special Thank you to Jesse Jess and Mars for the hospitality and for putting together the UMA's!

-Hugging Donny Goines before he went up to recieve his UMA for Buzz Factor of the year. This man's grind is UNMATCHED! and if you think I am lyin' GOOGLE HIM and watch what happens. But before you do that, let me give you some advice, make sure you get a drink and a sandwich cuz you gonna be reading for a while!and to Donny Goines, I got to say it here I TOLD YOU SO! :). Thank you for all your support!

-Attending the In The Know Seminars via Webinar. OK Kim Ellis and Wendy Day are about to change the face of Seminars as we know them. I have been lucky enough to attend 2 webinars and it is beyond convient and informative. I even got the webinar packet set to my house if I missed anything in my notes. I was able to answer my cell, do work, be at home and learn from some of the best in the business! This is the future....DONT SLEEP!

-Going to my very first ever Spit Boxin' with Suave Goddi and Al Porter. These men have knowledge and have helped CREATE this scene. Much Respect to both of you and everything and I mean EVERYTHING you do! and thank you for always being so amazing to share your knowledge.If you loose faith in this system, take time out talk to either of these men, and see the faith still in thier eyes and voices for Cleveland and the up coming artists in the scene.

-I went for the 1st time ever to: Kings of the Iron Mic and then to Kings VS Queens. all i have to say is, I was like WOAH! :) both put together by NappyHead Ent.. I think a lot of promoters need to take notes from them! PERIOD! They still doing the only way promotions for non headlined hip hop shows can be done, hand to hand/in the streets! KEEP IT NAPPY!Thank you for showing me so much love, and for continuing to bring shine to the Cleveland Scene.

-Attending the New Music Seminar in Cleveland Nov. 1st at the Crowne Plaza. The event was AMAZING! Special Thank you to Stephanie Carnegie and Kelo. I hope to coninute to be able to attend the NMS everytime it touches down. I learned a lot! and networked even more!

Optimus Grime & Lawcifer..WEAPONS OF MASS PRODUCTION *** The name "Sound Teckz" is a relatively new moniker, however Optimus Grime and his brother Lawcifer have been producing tracks for almost half a decade now. Based in Cleveland, Ohio, a city that has seen its share of high-profile Hip-Hop artists, such as Ray Cash, Chip tha Ripper and the legendary Bone Thugs N' Harmony, as well as numerous successful production teams, the Sound Teckz understand that they have their work cut out for them in terms of getting noticed. But they are making baby steps towards progress and possibly becoming the next notable producers in the 216. Formed in early 2007, the Sound Teckz have seen their share of difficulties. From equipment problems and financial issues to incarceration and theft, the Teckz are no strangers to tribulation. However, in light of these set-backs, they have managed to produce tracks for a few acclaimed artists as well as guest spots on several national mix-tapes. So what makes the Sound Teckz different from all the other producers you ask? Simple. Their chemistry. While using primarily digital equipment, samples and a few 'secret" methods, Optimus Grime and Lawcifer have been able to take a 3 second sample and turn it into a masterpiece sought after by artists at first-listen. This ability stems from the music they grew up around as well as the music they loathe. The current state of Hip-Hop and rap music seems to make the Sound Teckz cringe at the mere thought of it. This is a major driving force behind their goal, which is to provide real lyricists and MC's with the perfect sound to express their ideas. With a wide spectrum of influences, including everything from classic hip-hop to heavy metal to country to television, the Sound Teckz have all but mastered the art of beat production. Basically, they make what they like to hear and think sounds good and its becoming more and more apparent that they are not the only ones. From VIP slots in the hottest night spots to DJ shout-outs, they are being recognized in numerous hip-hop circles around Cleveland, and its only the beginning. The Sound Teckz are working on becoming nationally known and eventually, globally. The Sound Teckz sound can be distinguished by their combination of clean, pounding drum lines, suspenseful intros, smooth bass and most importantly their crisp sampling of some of the most magnificent sounds they can find. This composite along with their dual intuitive auditory canals, has allowed the Sound Teckz to establish a small-but-growing fan base that can't get enough of their audio assault. Ok, so who the hell is: Donnie Klang? I have heard is music, and I am sure Donny Mannia has insued, but Diddy, let me give you a little advice so you heard it here first... he aint got NOTHING on Robyn Thicke or up and comer Avery Storm.

It seems that Diddy is triing to hard to follow suit in a mini wave of white r&b singers, but the difference between the three....Robyn and Avery have pure undeniable talent, Donnie is simply a powder puff creation made by the one and only Diddy.

I got a question Mr. Diddy, are you looking for something that is a moment in success or do you want longevity in the game like yourself? It seems you are (lately) happy with momentary success so I see why you didnt invest in the simple surgery to pin the poor boy Donnies ears back, if you really want longevity from your up and coming artists, you should have left that boy were at his day job at abercombie and fitch and looked harder. Very dissapointing Diddy. What happened to doing your job, going hard, looking and finding real talent and giving us something that we can feel instead up shake our heads in shame at?

Cleveland rising star's life taken before her time.

On Sept 4th, one of Cleveland's rising stars, Joy Cranfield, was killed by stray bullets and passed away during an emergency surgery to save her life.
Joy was ½ of the hip hop duo 2much, her music partner in the duo is Joy's identical twin sister, Jasime.
Joy's murder comes as a heartbreaking shock to her community and the music community in the Cleveland area. The young aspiring musical duo, who are just 18 years old, have been on the rise for the past couple of years.

Their rise to becoming stars was helped with their close work with well known platinum producer Young Yonny (Production with artists such as: Trina, Lil Wayne, Lil Mo Fablous, Ray Cash and many more) and in Sept. 2006, 2much released a video for their song "So Fresh" which was produced by Young Yonny, and featured a cameo from hip hop super star Trina of Slip n Slide records.There has been 2 arrests made in the case and news reports have stated that the Joy and Jasime knew the two boys, who are only 16 & 17, who have been arrested in the case and news states that Joy was an innocent victim.

I personally have met these two young ladies several times over the past couple of years, and I was absolutely shocked to hear the news of Joy's passing. I know people say it, but I couldn't put it any other way then you truly couldn't have met two nicer girls who were on the rise as young stars and had so much to offer, from real talent, true humility and so much more was evident even from my very first meeting with them.
I am at an absolute loss for words at this very moment.

There has been a charity event set up for this Fri Sept 12th (information below) in Joy's honor.Rest In Peace Joy,you will be deeply missed, and My prayers go out to the Cranfield family.

There are so many videos out its hard to keep up. BUT inbetween all the fluff and BS that comes out, there are those videos that come and balance out the Karma, videos and records that come in and effect you. You're everything is one of those for me.

Before I was in the NYC I watched the new Bun B feat. Rick Ross David Banner and 8Ball and MJG "Youre Everything". I can not tell you how speechless I was. The video really effected me as well as the record.
These artists working together on a song shows unity. No matter what anyone says...THEY DIDNT HAVE TO DO THE TRACK TOGETHER. But they did.

The images in the video arent about bootys and bullshit, they are about other artists who made impacts on the cities, and with david banners part you see the Civil rights museaum is in jackson mississippi. I did not know that to be honest. So the video gives knowledge and homage.
The images in bun b and david banners faces in certain parts is not something you fake. you can feel the pain and can almost imagine what they are thinking.

I was so touched by the video, the images and the track, I had to write about it. Hip Hop in all shapes and forms is alive....and Even though I am not based in the south, thier pride is something I wish midwest would take notes on and get it together.

AS I WALKED INTO THE DIM ROOM ESCORED BY BERGS SECURITY I EXTENDED MY HAND TO YUNG BERG, WITH A SMILE HE SAID "NAW MA WE DONT DON'T DO THAT" AND PROCEEDED TO HUG ME. THEN HE SAT FOR THE QUICK INTERVIEW. I ONLY ASKED ABOUT 5 QUESTIONS RELATED MOSTLY TO WHAT HE WAS DOING IN CLEVELAND, WHAT WE CAN EXPECT COMING OUT AND WHO WAS NEXT ON HIS ROSTER.
